It's a beautiful song.
Who wouldn't want their heart to sing?

I guess, our heart sings as we feel good.
As we feel good about life.
Feel good about our own life and other people's life.
People that we know and care for.

We feel good about our own life when we appreciate what we're doing with it and in it and what we're getting from it.
Appreciating good feelings, bad feelings, and in-between feelings in life.

Appreciating good feelings or good times is easy, but necessary to caress our spirit.
Appreciating bad feelings or bad times is not easy, but also necessary to build our will and perseverance.
Appreciating in-between feeling is tricky, but most necessary to develop our skill in decision making.

So, they're all necessary.
They're all part of life.
It's a need for us to learn to appreciate each those feelings/times.
So we can appreciate, and enjoy, our life.
Because it's one of those things that we have to do ourselves.
If we don't enjoy our life... then, who will?

All of the above seem quite a cliche, but I think they're relevant to anyone celebrating a birthday.

They also seem to have nothing to do with my birthday song of this year, but they are, to me.

Talking about a beautiful song isn't all about the lyrics, the harmony, the artist...
All that is already so obvious.
Wanna emphasize on how good the song is?
Talking will never be enough!

Listen.
It's good.
Yeah...

What's more on talking about a beautiful song, is the effect that the song brings to our heart.
It's on the way that the song relates to our life, and a good relation is always a good thing.
That way, the song becomes part of the soundtrack of our life.

I think I'd been lucky enough to knew someone so special that makes my heart sings, almost as awesome as described in this beautiful song.
I haven't been that lucky again though, for quite some time now... :P
But, like everyone does, I had plenty of other times when my heart does sing.
That's my relation to the song.

Hm...
Gw bener2 sempat nimbang2 untuk gak dateng.

Jam 9 lewat. SMS. Sodara yg tetangga gw di Ps Minggu ini ternyata gak jd berangkat. Hfff...

Bukan masalah jd gak ada barengan. Tapi ntar gw musti ngadepin pertanyaan2 para sepupu (yg kebanyakan sdh bapak2 ibu2 itu), om2 n tante2 (pakde2 n bude2 gw sdh habis, almarhum), n para keponakan (cucu2 pakde2 n bude2, yg sebaya gw) yg jg sdh punya buntut itu.

Ngapain gw dateng?
Gw lagi bener2 perlu evaluasi diri.
Sekian lama ini, bahkan waktu gw tinggal bersama salah satu keluarga mereka, gak ada sodara yg bener2 nanya: gimana hidupmu? Hari ini pasti gak jauh beda.
Just another temporary euphoria. Another event where I forget that I have to carry my weight and go face tomorrow.

Terlebih, ada kemungkinan gw akan dimintain bantuan ini itu, nginep segala.

Sepupu2 sebaya gw yg juga masih mencari.
Konser Extreme yg sebenarnya bisa gw tonton gratis bareng Harry kalo xl gw gak ngaco hari senin lalu.
Solat Zuhur berjamaah, diapit sodara2 sendiri.

Hal2 sederhana tapi bermakna yg mengisi pikiran.
Sejenak menggusur pikiran2 jenuh, pertanyaan2, kelelahan2.

I'm glad I came.

THE ANSWER BEYOND (I'm Just Human)

Hm, where should I start this?
Why am I second guessing?
Because I feel stupid, that my recent problems are still rooting to my past.

I had a dysfunctional family. I've got over that, consciously. Sub-consciously, I don't think I have, after all these problems that I'm facing, right here right now.

How do I came to this psychoanalytical conclusion? By editing those damn psychology textbooks... hehe. The best medicine usually the bitter one, I guess.

OK, HERE IT GOES...

I seem to always having these down-days, randomly. Like Mandy Moore said in 'A Few Days Down':

It's a short vacation
To a foreign nation

I'm not looking for justification, which only gonna be temporary.
I want answer,
I want understanding,
I want relief.

The search for answer,
my search for answer.
It goes everywhere, to words that I could think of, and to words that I found in everybody else, wise persons and associates.
After a while, it all came down to this:
Why the abundance of disfunctionalities?
Are they all serve only as means of filtering, the ones that go to heaven and the ones that go the opposite direction?
All those failures,
crimes,
disabilities,
vanities,
decadences,
and everything that represent the low side of humanity,
that had made all these hollows in life and in the face of the earth,
only serve that one and only role of filtering?
What an abundance!

I hate abundance. Abundance is waste. Even the useful things on earth, if goes abundant, is waste. Useless, and even destructive. Again, in the hands of humanity. And in the sole role of heaven or hell.

I grew up recognizing human's ability to look behind things that exist or happen. Analytics, logics, scientific thinking, whatever the name is. I embrace it, I look up to it, I practice it, to the extent of my own logics, of course.

HUMAN

is the only one species that develops recognition that every human being deserves to survive.
Every human,
means extraordinary humans: leaders, founders, pioneers...
common people: parents, workers, children...
less-fortunate ones: poors, disabled, orphans...
and, criminals, abusers, corruptors...

Animals, they stick to the natural selection pattern:
Any disabilities, any one that does not meet the standard requirement,
whether its a physical abnormality,
a deviation of manner,
or simply an unfortunate incident (got separate/lost from one's family or group, for example),
will lead to a significant loss of survival chance,
and death.

I was going to list how community insist to keep the lowlies alive but not to do anything to make these kinda people become better in their lives. It's a long list, and I don't wanna go through it just to get a headache. It's all around, the ones that doesn't see it probably just doesn't want to see it.

I can't entirely blame the able ones for the unable ones. Ability is relative. As any human reach a higher/better stage of life, reaching a better ability, the person also acquires new needs and demands that require new abilities, and the cycle continues. To have more money to give, and so having more requirements for oneself and families, and less time to care for the unfortunates, which then render the person 'unable' to care for other than one's own everyday live. It's the cycle of common-life.

I still believe that there's time and chance for the unfortunates, even inside the rigid and cold common-life cycle.

I can say that, for events that occur in the community. I'm relatively unable to change anything anyway.

Then, it comes to myself.
All these unproductive days.
I used to find a reason for those days.

Recently, I've run out of reasons.
My reasons became excuses.
Then, my excuses became unbearably irrational.
What the hey???
Why can't I make myself move?
Why do I wasting in abundance?
Why?
What?
How?

PART TWO: AN ANSWER? I BELIEVE SO...

ALTER BRIDGE

Traditional hard rock. Virtuosic guitar playing by Mark Tremonti. Powerful beat with signature fills by Scott Phillips. Smooth tenor vocal and guitar by Myles Kennedy. Steady rhythm by Brian Marshall.

One fact is so obvious: Alter Bridge sounds very similar to Creed.

Many people (even music people) dub Tremonti as being selfish because he kicked out Scott Stapp out of Creed and then proceed to form Alter Bridge. I don't know what make those people came to such opinion. Maybe it's because Stapp was getting a lot media coverage about his struggle against drug addiction and his car accident (relatively close to the disbanding of Creed) so he got quite some sympathy. Maybe they think Tremonti should've given Stapp another chance. I think, the fact that Alter Bridge's sound, Kennedy's vocal, and even the theme of their lyrics are very similar to Creed also contributes to people's opinion that Tremonti simply gave up on his bandmates and carry on to do the same thing that is engineered so that Stapp seemed has nothing to do with the way Alter Bridge is now.

Well, on the surface it seems that Tremonti is the asshole.

Do I think that Stapp's the asshole? Nope. It's those jaded people who are the real asses. They dub others without a slightest respect, without trying to figure out the real facts.

Even from Creed days, there are a lot of haters that dissing the band's attitude. They are so dwelling in negativity (which is a trend, by the way, for weak people), that they mocked all positivity that Creed has in the lyrics. I saw a flash animation in the Net, where Stapp was supposed to be clicked with the cursor and being put (shot?) down, and then the caption reads "Now he's higher". 'Higher' is one of Creed's popular song, which, I guess, dubbed 'too positive' (?) or even "who the hey are they, talking so righteously? keep your holy fking words to yourself, thank you very much..". It's the trap of trend: everything else is bad, no matter how lost the trend actually is. The fact was: hard rock virtuosity is out-of-trend, negative-mindless-angst is the center of the earth, and so positivity is even way-out-of-trend.

Actually, Stapp did acting like an ass.. but I do believe he learn his lessons, the hard way. Instead of coping with his problems, he started to behave less and losing more. Yes, he had all of the addiction and accident.. but he also took it so personal and went upstage with Creed and acted mindlessly (in the darkest moment, he mumbled the words all the way thru some songs). Now, he lost the band.. Even after that, he got into a quarrel with 311, the one straightforward positive band in the world.

Tremonti, in the other way, was acting responsibly. He saw the damage that Creed had become. The band had to deal with some law suit from fans who dismayed at the concert where Stapp underperformed. Being the second most popular figure in the band (a tipical curse for guitar players), Tremonti automatically dragged to center stage. No matter how he dealt with the problem at hand, the haters just beat the crap out of him since then.. not directly because of what he does but because they ARE haters.

So, I'm sorry. I simply loss a significant amount of respect (musically, anyway) to any person who still thinks Alter Bridge sucks. I did, to a so called local music-celeb.. but what the hey.. celeb sucks..

Tremonti didn't go by his own ego. He took the responsibility to be the main figure for Creed-minus-Stapp, for his bandmates, and now.. for Alter Bridge. Wouldn't it be more selfish if he would just go on with Creed, and replace Stapp? What kinda singer would it be? That replacement might sucked. Instead, he respect the fans, who have the right to remember Creed as the band which has an awesome vocalist named Scott Stapp.

So, Tremonti rocks!

What is unbelievable, is the fact that the negative power is so trendy. I think Alter Bridge deserves more publicity than it has today, for the attitude.. for the theme.. for the lyrics. Yes, WWE dub 'Metalingus' and 'Rise Today' as a kinda anthem.. but the rest of music community seems oblivious of this amazing band.

Their lyrics is so humble and amazing. Singing along (lightly, heh) is such a natural habit for me while listening to them.

Musically, well, nothing's new anymore anywhere natural instruments is the soul of a band.. but that's what's make it feels alive. Pounding drums, clinging cymbals, steady bass, and powerful guitar. It's traditional hardrock (or whatever), so there's no extended solos.. but upbringing rhythm IS the soul of this genre.

Scott Phillips, is underrated, even by me (was). I found that he teaches me to be steady rocking at the drum kit, instead of taking any chance to rip a fill or an odd time signature into a song (which I learned from Mike Portnoy, which I think is losing it.. still a great drummer, Portnoy is). These days, he sits on top of my chart, leading Portnoy, Jason Trullo, and Neil Peart.

Lyrically (and the way they're singed), is the one that really makes the difference. Day-to-day struggle, humble wisdom.

BTW: Myles Kennedy is a tenor.. which makes him a rare species in the abundance of baritones in the hardrock world.

In short, Alter Bridge is awesome.. and still (hard)rock-ing steady.

For example: One amazing discovery I had recently, is that three songs in 'Blackbird' ('Buried Alive', 'Before Tomorrow Comes', and 'White Knuckles') became somewhat a trilogy for me (problem-wisdom-solution).

I don't really care what jaded people think of Alter Bridge.. it doesn't make me love the band any less. What I DO worry is the question of how long they gonna be able to maintain such quality in that business-centered music world.. because I need more of them.. because there's less and less choice for such a quality.

Ngambang..
Itu kesan yang terasa/tersisa kelar konser SkidRow di ExDriveIn Ancol, dari komentar dua orang yg jadi temen gw nonton malam tadi (sepupu gw Harry B. & temen KIS FM Bubu).

Gw pribadi sih netral, gak oke tapi gak drop juga.

Ada beberapa hal yg bikin konser ini gak nendang. Dari sisi shownya, SkidRow terlalu cepet bubaran.. masak jam 23 udahan? Jadi, karena kali ini gak ada freepass & beli tiket 100rb, rasanya kok rugi..

Mungkin gak terasa bngt, kalo Snake Sabo gak absen manggung. Kata seseorang sesama penonton, gitaris itu kena cekal di Amrik karna kasus narkoba atau apalah. Padahal gitaris itu sdh sangat identik dng SkidRow. Scotti Hill, dari sisi skill memang gak kalah gape, tapi masih kalah dari sisi karisma.

Beberapa hal yang lain, gak khusus terkait dng show di Indonesia. Susahnya, buat SkidRow, ada beberapa masalah yang saling terkait:

Album terkini mereka yg gak dikenal
Sebagian besar penonton mengharapkan lagu2 era Sebastian Bach
Komposisi konser mereka dibikin sama banyak antara lagu lama & baru
Vokal Johnny Salinger yg gak gape ngebawain lagu2 era Bach

Jadi serba salah. Alasan mereka membatasi lagu2 lama, memang ada benernya karena semua band pasti pingin maju terus & gak cuma dikenal dari lagu lamanya. Tapi album baru mereka kurang promosi dan bisa dibilang gak dikenal orang..

Ada satu hal lagi yg bikin kesel, tapi mungkin masalah klasik. Band pembukanya gak oke. MC juga gak oke.

LogGuns, yg dipromosikan sbg anak didiknya Log Zhelebour, kurang oke dari sisi vokal yg dibilang Harry "datar", meski dari sisi musik lumayan asik. Menurut gw, vokalnya memang sengaja diset seperti tren warna vokal band2 lokal sekarang, korban mode rupanya.. Usaha mereka bawain 'Enter Sandman' gak sukses.

Kobe, dari Jatim, lebih garang, walaupun mainnya kalah rapi. Toh capek juga ngedengerin lima lagu mereka. Apalagi penutupnya 'Putri' dari Jamrud..

Kalo dipikir, rasanya waktu yg dipake kedua band pembuka ini jadi sama panjangnya sama waktu manggungnya SkidRow.. Mungkin ini juga sebabnya SkidRow jadi kerasa terlalu cepat kelar.

MC terlalu muda. Cuma nyambung sama anak2 di depan panggung, sementara senior2 di bagian belakang (termasuk gw) pada kesel pengen nimpuk.. Masak pas soundcheck & ada lagu background bagus (AC/DC lagi, tapi gw gak tau judulnye) dia ngomong terus gak jelas antara sok lucu atw bikin penonton marah. Padahal parah juga kalo ada yg beneran nimpuk, karena selain botol aqua setengah liter banyak juga yang megang payung (sempet hujan gerimis sebentar) gede2 (kayaknya pada beli di stan GudangGaram). Tapi memang kebanyakan yg bawa payung itu bediri di belakang, jadi kalo dilempar juga gak nyampe..

Tentang suasana konser, ExDriveIn cuma keisi setengah, sampe pas sebatas panggung lampu. Tata lampu oke, ada banyak spotlight (atau skylight?) yg keliatan dari jauh sebelum nyampe di venue. Lampu panggung oke, agak lebih gemerlap dibanding dua konser Solucite. Tata suara juga lebih jernih. Sempet mati sih, waktu LogGuns manggung & ujan gerimis sebentar.

Scotti Hill jadi yg paling ekspresif, Bolan cepak, Dave G. (drummer) mirip Tommy Lee (tatonya), sementara Ryan Cook yg ngegantiin Sabo keliatan 'belum nyambung' gaya panggungnya & kebanyakan kalem.

Si Salinger ternyata satu2nya redneck dari Texas, pake topi koboi (model simpel, bukan model Tantowi Yahya), & sempet ngajak penonton tereak yiihaa!

Mungkin juga Indonesia terlalu panas cuacanya bwt SkidRow, makanya cepet kelar, padahal ada juga beberapa break (pas I Remember You yang cuma Salinger ditemenin akustikannya Cook, Salinger istirahat pas yg laen bawain Ramones, trus pas encore). Pertama kali di negara tropis kali..

Ada yg aneh jg, pas encore.. Kok cuma gw yg semangat tepok tangan minta tambah lagu? Tapi begitu bener2 kelar, malah banyak banget yg minta tambah. Ada yg salah..

Keseluruhan, gak mengecewakan sebenernya. Toh gw gak dateng sendiri & 100rb termasuk murah bwt artis luar. Di lagu2 lama, penonton juga asik2 reaksinya.

Masa depan SkidRow mungkin kurang asik, tapi kesempatan nonton konser artis luar selalu punya daya tarik tersendiri..
Not many yeahs to SkidRow, but lotsa yeahs for more concert like this..

Helloween is a legend. In highschool, almost in every band I played in, the guitar-boy asked to cover 'I Want Out' in studio or simply play that tapping-intro when we hanged-out at one member's place. Back then, I was with Metallica and Faith No More, so I didn't really dig it. Most vocalist-boys back then rather sing Nirvana, so I guess they didn't dig it either.

So, when Helloween come to Jak-City for the second time after 2004, I didn't prepare anything other than browsed some info about the gig in the Net. Suddenly, that late-afternoon came a call from Harry B. about a chance for a free pass or ticket.

Harry is my metal-mania cousin who works at Ramako Radio Group and occassionally he gets free pass or ticket. He and I went to last year's Dragon Force gig and almost made it to Paul Gilbert gig a couple years earlier (not the sold out Megadeth gig, he only got one free pass for himself and I had an computer-emergency call from another one of my cousin).

So, at about 6pm I went to the venue and got there by 7. I wore black pants and black polo shirt, which is as black as I can recently. I was going to wear Utchink's over-sized-and-given-to-me Metallica shirt, but I switched at the last minute for two reasons: It's Metallica shirt but it's Helloween gig, and I went to Dragon Force gig with similar outfit (dark-blue pants instead). It turned out that I saw some Dragon Force shirt at the venue. Still no Metallica shirt, although maybe there's some at the festival (I didn't know how it was going on the festival I because ended up sitting at the tribune, surrounded with some rather clueless free-passers, just-out-of-the-office-still-wearing-office-shoes guys, and some pinky females).

Helloween was scheduled to play in Tennis Indoor (like the coming Incubus gig), but (Harry said) the mishap in Bandung underground gig (features thrash band 'Beside') with ten fatalities affects the permission to hold a rock concert in an indoor venue, so the promotor ('Solucite', the same promotor of Dragon Force gig) transfer the venue to Tennis Outdoor. Check out Hindari Rusuh, Helloween Konser di Ruang Terbuka @ okezone.com for a review on this matter. I think it's lucky that we have the choice of two indoor-outdoor venues side by side like here. It would be complicated to move a gig to a different venue that is located far from the original venue. I don't now whether Incubus gig will be transfered too, it has different promotor (Java Musikindo).

The opening act was already started, but we stayed out for two reasons: Harry don't really dig the opening act (thrashy growly kinda stuff) and the press-pass for me was still in his friend's (from KIS FM) hand somewhere outside the venue.

We went in at 8.30, with the last opening act still performing. Nice, the band featured a female vocalist in one song. Harry called it, "A kinda progressive song" (I think he calls it because the song was not in one tempo from start to end..).

We sat on the tribune, because the other guys wanted to for yet another two reasons: They just got out of work (one of them still wearing formal/work shoes) and wanted to sit down instead of standing at the festival area and, I eventually figured out, they didn't really dig Helloween either (apparently less then I am, and guess what, one of them only knew 'I Want Out'). The center tribune was already full, so we went to the side tribune.

Gatot Widayanto (or Fugaziyanto?) is the MC, again, and that old-metal-crack behave comically, again. Man, I respect you for being true to classic rock scene, but your way is so-not-rocker. Like his comical way is not enough, he was accompanied by three guys, each wearing a Helloween pumpkin on their head.. Ha! Applause to you anyway, citing that Helloween would record this gig and release it as a CD, if only the crowd would go crazier than Bangkok.. we'll see! He also posted a promotion-review, some pre-review (before the show and way before the show), and a post-review, with some more comical attitude and some photographs.

There was this rather long sound-check break, accompanied with a background of jazzy songs (Err.. excuse me sir, is this JavaJazz venue?) and one loud AC/DC song ('For Those About To Rock We Salute You').

Finally, the show started with 'Halloween'. Yeah, we're rocking!

I only recognise two older member: Markus Grosskopf and Michael Weikath.

The stage consisted of two main part: The standard right-on-the-crowd's-face with four mike-stands and the riser with the drum on the center of it and some space on both side with one mike-stand each. There's a stair on each side that connects the standard-stage and the riser. Other than the fact that both guitarists can come up to the riser on each side of the drum kit, the stage was plain and dark-colored. The Helloween logo below the drum-kit (stretched along the front-side of the riser) wasn't visible from the side tribune (I kinda see the pumpkin that is the letter 'O', but not the whole 'Helloween'). Later I figured out from the reviews that there's a full-image backdrop (I did see a glimpse of the mascot which is the guy with a pumpkin head.. Anybody knows his name?). But to make up with the plain stage, the lighting work was nice.

The 'S' and 'E' banners from 'Solucite' (the promotor) hangs on each side of the stage, where the speakers should be, but I swear there's no speaker behind it! In fact, I couldn't see (from the tribune I'm sitting in) where the speakers were! Well, there's got to be speakers, because the sound is rocking..

I don't know most of the song but, as always, I can't stay still with that kind of powerful sound! I bang my head, pound my feet to the tribune (which is already vibrating to the drum beat) and my hands to my thighs, yell, making symbols with my hands, and clapping enthusiastically (compared to some people around.. I know we're in the seated tribune but it's a g-damn rock show, c'mon!). Harry was the only one around me that also rocking. Of course, his the master of the genre. It's funny how everybody asked him, before the show, for some please-makes-us-less-clueless facts about Helloween.

Maybe it's caused by sitting in the side tribune instead on the center tribune or the festival, the sound I got is less powerful than Dragon Force (and Korn, because Arena PRJ was a kinda similar venue in term of sounding, I think). Festival is better, though I kinda like the way my seat vibrates with the bass drum (What? I better be joking..).

I got some chances to sing along: There was a crowd-choir part. I dunno the song, but the part that we sang was "I am the perfect gentleman" and then "Perfect!". And then there was another song (I think it's 'The Hells Of The 7 Bells') that sang "We are the people" and then a yelling-part "Hell!".

There was a drum solo at about mid-way through the show by Daniel Loble. Nice, nothing extraordinary. One part sounded like Mike Portnoy's part (and Portnoy said once, "I hate drum solo..").

There's a guitar solo part that was embedded in one of the song. Sascha Gerstner's solo was fast, while Grosskopf's was kinda mellow (the solos were embedded in a slow song).

Weikath's bass sound is so unclear from the side tribune. But come to think of it, the guitars' sound wasn't as clear as (I think) it supposed to be either. The bass-drum is so dominant, along with Andi Deris' vocal (of course). This was the same case with the Dragon Force gig (although I was on the festival then). Maybe Solucite had the same sound engineer? I dunno..

Some songs that I recognized was 'Dr. Stein', the awesome 'Power', and the inevitable 'I Want Out'.

I can't really slamming sitting down. But I got my chance to stand up freely at the encore. It was funny, because I was making a standing ovation when it went dark right before the encore and completely forgotten about it (I thought that's it), but I think that's what drives Harry (and eventually the other guys) to stands up at the second encore.

Yup, that's right, there was two encores. Just before the first one, everybody's making comment about how lousy an encore is and everybody knows that those mo-fo is going to come back for some more songs anyway. Well, there you have it you smarty-pants: Two encores!

The encore was awesome. Not only that I can slam and jump freely at the second one, there was 'Power' at the first one. Medley though (with 'I Can'), but it's the one song I dig that night (I got it recorded on my old Nokia, for 3 minutes, but I dunno how the hey am I going to transfer it to a more decent format).

The second encore contains, none other, 'I Want Out'. Well, what the hey, I slam anyway..

There was also some pumpkin-shaped ballons kicked around the stage during the encores and eventually to the festival crowd (I want it! But it was difficult to get, even if I was standing in the festival.. Anyway!).

Almost two hours Helloween rocked Jak City. Harry said, the setlist was not so different than Bangkok (the earlier gig on the Hellish Rock Tour). It also started with 'Helloween' and also ended with two encores.

The crowd was less attractive than Dragon Force or Megadeth (Harry said, "No moshing".. though I did saw one guy on the festival tried to mosh, and failed) but that's a comparison to a different genre (speed metal, fast-kicking bass-drum from start to end) and to a greater legend (someone around me commented about the rather-long sound-check break, "I didn't mind waiting for Dave Mustaine, this is too long.."). It's Helloween's second visit anyway, maybe the fan anxiety was lesser too.

Overall, it was nice for me. No matter how clueless I am, it was metal professionals at work and they awesomely rocking.

STEADY AS A HERO

Hi guys..
I'm really sorry I haven't been around lately
and missing some time with you all.
I've been gone through changes,
learning,
improvement.

Some things are changing,
some other are not.

There's a lesson I just re-learnt
that things are changing in different pace.
Sometimes change has a very slow pace
that at some point it seem unchanging
and become such a bogger.

Perhaps it's not just a lesson about the change itself.
Maybe it's a lesson about my own perspective.
To be patient
and -more importantly- to be steady.

Steady was
-and still is, in some (or maybe -you'd say- many) of my ways-
not.. me.
Moody.. once said to me.
No matter how often they characterised me as
uncertain,
unrelated,
and eventually.. unimportant,
there's always something elusive behind the character of mine.

Too many times I question why I linger as an unsteady person.
Is it my past?
Is it my environment?
Is it inevitable?
What should I do about it?
How should I change?
Should I just dismiss it and carry on trying to do my best?
How can I do my best
when there's an unsolved question that is so basic?
Or..
what?

Perhaps it is environment.

There's just no one that I can really relate to
in matters of background, activity, preference, or chance.
My parents -may they rest in peace-
were ill and passed away
far before I reach the point
where I got the urge to talk deep about myself.
My second family,
my relatives,
my friends,
my ex-girl.
There's just way too many factors
that made us walk our own separate ways.

One of the crucial factor
is time.
Everybody else has achieved that self-definition stage
while I'm still pondering around trying to match my environment.

Then as many time went by
I -unconsciously- built up this self-opinion
that I always around people who never really relate to me.

I got angry
but silently.
I knew who I am.
There's history that made me unworthy,
incommon,
unrelated.
It's why they just wont put up enough effort to relate to me.
But dammit..

I was ruining myself.
Lose alot of my future.
Got really ill for the first time and compromise my health.

That was the down of the very down of me.
That was..
history.

Now
through these couple of years
my future is rebuilding.
Wont be able to reclaim the old-amazing-future
that I've scrapped behind,
but this is a future.

Back to being steady,
I often recall what Aunt May told Peter Parker in Spidey 2,
when he was really bogged down by everything around him
and gotten unsure about what hero means,
then he came back to his roots,
that is his home
and beloved aunt..

"I believe there's a hero in all of us,
that keeps us honest,
gives us strength,
makes us noble,
and finally allows us to die with pride,
even though sometimes we have to be steady,
and give up the thing we want the most.
Even our dreams."

My quote to that:
"To be a hero, you must be steady."

Perhaps the most important hero is in every one of us,
that relying on someone else's
won't ever be enough.

ORIGIN OF NAME:

The way to pronounce Saosin has been a topic of intense debate among fans. Despite Anthony Green's explanation that it came from the Chinese proverb meaning "small heart" and that he, the one responsible for the name choice, pronounced it "say-ocean"[1], the current members of the band primarily pronounce it "Say-Oh-Sin",[3] meaning either pronunciation is widely considered acceptable.

The pronunciation, although an improper one, of SAY-OH-SIN is in the Chinese dialect Mandarin and not Cantonese as many may believe. The Pinyin for "Saosin" is "xiao xin", and translates literally into "small heart" in Mandarin. It simply means "watch out", "caution", or "be careful". Eyesight Fitness
These exercises, designed and used for patients at the Tao of Wellness Center, are helpful for maintaining and improving your vision.

Try to do these exercises first thing in the morning and just before bed. Another good time is when your eyes feel tired, such as right after computer use. Make sure that your hands are clean and that you are relaxed in body and mind. The key to progress is practicing regularly, preferably every single day.

1. Warming the Eyes: Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times.

2. Pressing the Rim of the Valley: Use both thumbs and press slowly from the inside outward along the upper rim of the eye sockets. Then switch to both index fingers and press along the lower rim of the eye sockets from the inside outward. Repeat three times.

3. Rolling the Marble: Press the back of your thumbs gently against the eyeballs; slowly roll up and down 12 times. Then slowly roll from side to side 12 times.

4. Turning the Wheels of Fortune: Place the thumb knuckles at both temple areas and massage in circular motion three times. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose.

5. Staring at the Light: hold an object out in front of you as far as possible. Focus your eyes on the object while slowly moving the object closer until it is six inches from your nose. Then focus on the object as you move it slowly away from you. Repeat this three times and relax briefly in between.

6. Spinning the Basketball: With your eyes open, roll eyes clockwise, then counter-clockwise three times each. Try to look into the sockets of your eyes as much as possible.

7. Taking a Nap on the Job: Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for three minutes.

Drummer, that's the closest I got.
Electric guitar, I think, is one instrument with the coolest appearance
bought an accoustic one but failed on practice: no mentor and my fingers failed.

Electric bass and keyboard, I wanna reach them.
A drum set (and a place to play it without waking the neighbor) is my dream.

Never worked a real band, though I've played a gig once.
Never found enough of the same vision.
Once again, I was just the stupid drummer who followed the leading guitar.

Sometimes, I play a song or a whole gig in my head and with sony in my ears.
Sometimes, without sony, I make my own songs.
I can really play in my head, assisted with my muted mouth.
Another dream, to be able to compose those head-songs into real ones.

WHAT IF SUPERMAN IS AN UNDERACHIEVER?

What would have happened if DC Comic's Superman had been raised by a less sensitive and aware person than Pa Kent? Picture Superman shuffling along the street, with his eyes shut and his hands in his pockets.

He doesn't shake hands with people, because he would hurt them.
He takes only small steps. Otherwise, he tends to leap the buildings in a single bound, and everyone makes fun of him.
He claims to hear voices and sounds that no one else can, and it makes him seem and feel more than a little crazy.
The worst of it is when he opens his eyes. Part of the time, he sees things others don't, or things he's not supposed to, and nobody will believe him. Once, when a teacher said, "Look at me, young man!" he opened his eyes and she burned. He tried to explain how it happened, but the police just ignored him, and tried to solve the mystery. He couldn't or wouldn't prove it, as he was too ashamed of what he'd done. He almost never opens his eyes, now.

Latar belakangnya, gw perlu ngingetin diri gw sendiri. Karena di posisi gw sekarang, gw belum ketemu lagi sama orang lain yg mau repot2 ngingetin gw. Gitu.

Awalnya, gw baca artikel di 'Aura'.

Yak, betul... Gw baca tabloid wanita. Setelah kecewa baca koran, dgn harapan dapet inspirasi, ketemu sekian banyak berita 'capek'. Sementara tabloid/majalah techie isinya masih di luar jangkauan perwujudan, dgn sisipannya yang udah berubah dari CD jadi DVD...

Eniwei, kembali ke Aura dan artikelnya... Lewat dari beberapa artikel mode, satu artikel selebriti, satu artikel gosip, dan beberapa artikel anak, ada banyak saran-saran sehat. Bukan cuma saran sehat badan kayak makanan sehat, olahraga, dsb., tapi juga sehat mental dan terutama yg paling berguna buat gw adlh tips menginspirasi diri sendiri.

Oke, jangan sampe gw disangka promosi Aura di sini...
Intinya, ada satu tip yg cukup baru buat gw.

Ada begitu banyak input yg diterima seseorang setiap harinya, cuma ada beberapa yg akhirnya bener2 ada gunanya. Orang musti bisa menyaring input, membuang yg 'sampah' dan mengolah yg bermanfaat. Itu formalnya bernama informasi. Informasi simpelnya adlh hasil pengolahan dari data-data. Tapi, lebih lanjutnya, cuma hasil pengolahan data yang ada gunanyalah yg pantes disebut informasi. Data sampah membentuk informasi sampah gak selayaknya disebut informasi.

Nah, masalahnya gimana kalo kita musti nyaring sampah yg sama setiap harinya? Kita kan bukan kloset yg tiap hari nampung sampah yg sama menjijikkannya tanpa protes. Sori...

Mungkin ada hubungannya sama kapasitas toleransi masing2 orang. Sebanyak apa sampah yg bisa kita saring sebelum akhirnya kerasa muak, atau nyaring satu jenis sampah yg itu2 aja sampe bosen. I dunno, apa dasarnya gw kurang toleran, gampang bosen sama sesuatu yg monoton, atau khusus kalo ketemu sama sampah tertentu?

Akhirnya, sesuai judul dan masalah artikel Aura di atas...

Sebelumnya gw selalu memblokir total sampah2 dengan segala cara supaya gak sampai memenuhi indera gw dan sampe ke otak. Entah dgn cara cabut dari lokasi sampah atau memblokir indera gw (i love my earphone). Tapi beberapa waktu belakangan ini toleransi gw makin turun agaknya. Memblokir sampah jadi sesuatu yg butuh upaya lebih dan hasilnya lebih mengesalkan, yang artinya menurunkan semangat gw alias bikin mati angin. Kalo udah mati angin, mampus gw...

Nah...
Tip itu bilang: Kalo ada yg ngeselin jangan ditolak mentah2, terima aja baru dilepas dari pikiran.
Wah, beneran. Simpel bngt, tapi bener2 gak kepikiran.
Apa gw yg bego?
Tapi, gw juga pernah baca kalo orang memang cenderung terpaku ke satu metode memecahkan masalah yg familiar, alih2 nyoba atau mikirin cara baru yg gak familiar tapi lebih efektif.
Jadi, alih2 sama sekali menghindari hal2 yg gak cocok, bisa jadi lebih efektif kalo gw terima aja apa adanya dan lalu gw biarin, gw tinggalin apa adanya.
Malah lebih gampang dan gak bikin kesel.

Hari ini gw mengheningkan cipta 60 detik pas jam 08.15

Made this at times between correcting 27 chapters of 'Schaum's Modern Physics'.

Began with the blossom on the upper left, attracted by its shape.
Proceeded onto the narrow leaves below it.
Then went on with the big leaf, also below the flower.
One big leaf onto another, led onto the pot.

Here the day came to end.
Didn't think to continue sketching this by then, but a compliment made a second thought.

The next day, add another big blossom on the upper right.
Keep on adding flowers on the back.
Add some more big leaves and some side-view leaves.
Finally, some more shading were added.

Scanned it on afternoon break, upload it to Photobucket, and put it on here.

About the Album: Ben Moody helped on the cover of Stevie Nicks' 'Edge Of Seventeen', I can sense his influence but somehow insignificant. Kara DioGuardi is the producer.

	'Falling' has some quote-worthy lyrics. 'Right Here' has some melodic parts and an interesting pause (I even thought it's the end of the song). About the Album ('Chapter V'): Interesting less accoustic more metal. First time double bass drums (as far as I know). Too bad I haven't been able to relate to most of the lyrics, like the way I related with the lyrics in the previous album ('14 Shades of Grey'). A Lil' Note: In both albums, I can relate to at least one song with strong Alice in Chains influence.

Knew Hooba back from their self titled major label release.

EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF

Picked most of the songs here, except the let's-party-up-and-making-out 'Inside of You' and I-had-enough-of-you-stay-off-my-face 'Good Enough' for my moody reasoning that avoids those kinda theme recently.
     'The Rules' and 'Born to Lead' are almost inseparable, bringing that Hooba energy upfront right on the beginning. They marked the Hooba irony too, for the capture of soldier's indoctrination about obeying orders without self will that is 'The Rules' and placed right on the beginning and the end of 'Born...' which is a song about will power and self control. Cool boom effects, first time use for Hooba.
     There's a new touch to Hooba music with alternate fills, some are obvious like the vocal harmony at the beginning of 'Moving Forward' that almost Queen-esque (to my non rabid-Queen-fan-ear) and some are spicing up seconds like those chime fills that really sounds like The All-American Rejects kinda thing.
     Speaking of Rejects, they also had a new release ('Move Along') that somewhat sounds like Hooba, especially on vocal (Tyson Ritter style become a lot like Doug Robb). Suppose it's because they share the same producer (Howard Benson) who's been with Hooba since the previous 'The Reason'. Funny thing that Rejects reduce their odd fills (like that upfront chime thing) from their debut self titled release and somehow pass the idea to Hooba via Benson, whom already passed the idea of singing from Hooba to Rejects. Maybe, I'm just assuming...
     Back to the album, I saw the 1st single 'If I Were You' video on MTV Fresh and can't help laughing at that moment when Doug made a stupid out-of-context expression on his face. Anyway, it's still sounds like 'The Reason' kinda thing, except that beginning effect that somehow became a controversy on MTV or whatever. Hooba style, man... "Don't even get me started on that", said Doug. LOL
     I didn't know they've chosen 'Inside...' for 2nd single when I've started listening to this album. I prefer 'If Only (More than a Memory)', that one really got me with its lyrics and guitar sound.
     Most of the songs carry positive perspectives, which I can't get enough of. Rocking Hooba style!
     Great job, guys! Thank you, you've all made my day.

WEST MILFORD, N.J. - A black bear picked the wrong yard for a jaunt, running into a territorial tabby who ran the furry beast up a tree — twice.
Jack, a 15-pound orange and white cat, keeps a close vigil on his property, often chasing small animals, but his owners and neighbors say his latest escapade was surprising.
"We used to joke, 'Jack's on duty,' never knowing he'd go after a bear," owner Donna Dickey told The Star-Ledger of Newark for Friday's editions.
Neighbor Suzanne Giovanetti first spotted Jack's accomplishment after her husband saw a bear climb a tree on the edge of their northern New Jersey property on Sunday. Giovanetti thought Jack was simply looking up at the bear, but soon realized the much larger animal was afraid of the hissing cat.
After about 15 minutes, the bear descended and tried to run away, but Jack chased it up another tree.
Dickey, who feared for her cat, then called Jack home and the bear scurried back to the woods.
"He doesn't want anybody in his yard," Dickey said.
Bear sightings are not unusual in West Milford, which experts consider one of the state's most bear-populated areas.
